The Healing Path

Devil's Claw for Arthritis

The Skeletomuscular System – Oct 2003

I always cherish this quiet time, putting my thoughts to paper and sharing them with you. As always I pray that this letter finds you happy, healthy and prosperous.

October is here and summer is behind us now as we enjoy the bounty of autumn and prepare for winter. I love the change of seasons and fall is second only to spring in my book.  And so goes the rhythm of life.

Now, I am always amused at how my plans are often overridden when the universe has its own plans for me. I was going to start formulation on a tincture for asthma and lung disorders.  I still will, but apparently not now.  Mom has arthritic nodules through out her spine that causes her great pain and her meds seem to be doing more harm than good.

So I temporarily put my work aside for the asthma tincture and started on one for Arthritis and tendonitis.  In so doing I have chosen some wonderful herbs for the joints and skeletomuscular system including Devils Claw; Pau d’ Arco; Yarrow and Wild Yam. The healing power of Devils Claw has been borne out through extensive experiments. It has the ability to cleanse the joints, muscles and tendons of toxins. It also is a potent cleanser for arteriosclerosis, kidney, liver and bladder disease as well as arthritis.

Devil’s Claw has shown relieve back and knee pain due to its anti-inflammatory effects for rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.

Yarrow is a blood cleaner that encourages fast healing. Perhaps this is why Achilles, one of the great heroes of the Greek Trojan war, used it so extensively for his wounded soldiers.

I chose Wild Yam to support the liver as it processes toxins out of the body.

And you wonder why I love these herbs so much, while formulating a tincture for arthritis and tendonitis; look at all the added benefits they provide.

I am always interested in your feedback. My clients have been a great inspiration to me and I am grateful to them, for I have learned a lot from them.

Love and Light, Lori
