Our Bodies Listen to Our Thoughts – March 2003

Dear Friends,

I would like to talk to you about the responsibility that we have to ourselves to take an active/leading role in our own healing. Do you know that our bodies are very obedient and very in tuned with our thoughts? It is always listening to the chatter that is going on in our heads (even if we are not.)  So every time we think “I’m too tired; I’m too fat; I can’t do that any more or I always forget, your body takes careful note and adjusts it’s self accordingly, thinking that this is the norm. So you see how our thoughts become a self fulfilling prophecy.

So now here is the good news. The same works in reverse. If you think of your body as a sensitive child that can hear every word you are saying, you know you would never say anything hurtful or negative. Changing the way we think is the most powerful way to achieve our goals.

We always hear about all the negativity that we are constantly bombarded with and how it affects our health. Now take a moment and think of all the good things that happen in a day, a gentle nudge from a favorite pet; a song  that comes on the radio just when you need to hear it; or perhaps something as simple as a color that really catches your eye. These are small blessings; sacred gifts and they have healing qualities.

Please do me a favor. For one week, try to notice all these sacred gifts that come your way and pause for a short moment and feel it in the core of your being. Then say to yourself, “that makes me feel so good” or “I love that” or simply take a deep breath and think “ahh.” Try this; I think you will find that it is well worth your time. It will also send the message to your body that “all is well.”

For it is my deepest hope indeed, that you attain the health and happiness you so richly deserve.

Love and Light, Lori Jacobs
