Dear Friends,
March 2020
It has been a long time since I wrote a newsletter. But I feel compelled to do so now that the nation and a good part of the world seems to be forced to self quarantine to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus… even the healthy are told to self quarantine.
I haven’t been in the store much because any given time I have about 2 weeks worth of supplies in my house and that isn’t counting the rice and varietal dried beans I keep on hand. However when I heard that Pennsylvania was going to close the liquor stores down, I figured I’d better get another case of grain alcohol to keep my supplies of Endocrine Strengthener up with the demand. Then I went to the grocery store to get some fresh ginger and garlic. I use ginger in several of my tinctures.
My take away was that people seemed distant and somewhat fearful. I tried to joke with some and give warm smiles to those with furrowed brows. We need to be positive and comfort those who are scared. Some were worried about short supplies of household items. But many were fearful that they wouldn’t be able to get the medicine they would need if they came down with the virus. I’m concerned that this fear and self quarantine will damage if not break the human bond.
I joked with one lady who’s husband was home recovering from surgery. She said she is very careful when she comes home from shopping, she strips off her clothes and washes up. Of course I couldn’t help myself being the smart aleck that I am and replied, “He must be a very happy man”.
Since we were waiting in line for some time I started telling her that there were plenty of food items still available in the store that are antiviral such as garlic, fresh ginger raw apple cider vinegar, anything in the onion family, and citrus fruits to name a few. I told her that with a little knowledge and some preventive care she could be proactive in boosting her and her husband’s immune system. She asked if she could leave her cart there while she went to get some of the items I mentioned. I told her, No way! You’ve got a lot of nerve! LOL! OK I actually told her to go ahead and I would hold her place in line.
I’ll make this short because I’ve got to get more tinctures started. But I want to give a list of items that have ant-viral properties; you may have in your house or you can still get at the store. First and foremost is fresh ginger or ginger tea bags.
Vitamins to take
- Make sure you take at least 5000 IU of Vitamin D daily. being Vitamin D deficient is one of the quickest ways to come down with the flu.
- Add 1000 – 10,000 mg of vitamin C. You can slowly work your way up to 10,000 by adding 1,000 mgs. per week. When you have reached your body’s tolerance for Vit. C, you will notice loose stool or diarrhea. Cut back 1,000 mgs. and stay at that dosage.
- Also 220 mg of zinc daily.
Hot Ginger Tea: A Powerful Weapon in Your Self Quarantine Preventive Arsenal
Keep a section of fresh ginger root or fresh lemon on hand in your refrigerator.
- Cut slices of ginger or lemon [or both] and place in a one quart thermos. For a pleasant taste, you might consider adding a small section of cinnamon stick and/or stevia.
- Fill thermos with boiling water and sip on it through out the day.
- I find a an old fashioned tea cup is the perfect size.
- Drink it 1/2 cup every waking hour; drink it before it cools down, which is important as the hot water gets toxins moving and eliminated from your body.
- Set a timer to remind you that will repeat every hour. This is crucial. Remember that you have a timer on your phone.
