Candida
The Best Cure for Candida Overgrowth
A Brief Overview
Causes of Candida (SIBO) – Symptoms of Candida – Correct Candida Overgrowth
Until recently the medical establishment ignored a condition called Candida Overgrowth. However somewhere around 2020 – 2021 they admitted that it is an actual condition. Hence, candida overgrowth had been renamed SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth)
It is estimated that 80% of Americans have a condition known as SIBO or candida overgrowth. This means that there is a disproportionate amount of yeast, called candida albicans in the small intestine. It is normally present in our gut, but it is kept in check by a healthy balance of friendly bacteria and digestive enzymes. The problem is that most American’s have killed off their friendly bacteria due to the over use of pharmaceuticals and poor diet. There is a cure for candida but it’s one of the best kept secrets in America… one that manages to keep some of us very ill.
There are many things which may create an imbalance in the body.
Some of the most common causes of candida are:
- Use of drugs such as antibiotics and birth control medication or steroids. This can include over the counter medications as well.
- A diet rich in processed carbohydrates that is lacking fiber and natural enzymes.
- Other causes of candida overgrowth (SIBO) are routine X-Rays. This, until recently, had been denied by many professionals but, in fact, X-rays can create a yeast overgrowth condition to manifest – even simple dental X-Rays.
- Trauma and long-term stress.
- A baby can be born with a yeast condition and one of the main causes of candida in babies is that the mother, perhaps had a yeast problem when carrying the baby. This is not too surprising since the baby gets its nourishment from the mother as well as Candida yeast! Babies with a yeast overgrowth will usually manifest symptoms early on in life, including thrush or chronic diaper rash.
Symptoms of Candida
A short list of candida symptoms are, but certainly not limited to: bloated stomach, sensitivity to odors, headaches, tiredness, depression, anxiety, leaky gut syndrome, allergies, muscle aches, inability to concentrate, digestive problems, skin rashes, kidney/bladder infections, yeast infections, blurred vision, vaginitis, infected nails, rectal itching, gas, thrush, low sex drive, irritable bowel syndrome, brain fog, ulcerative colitis and fatigue. The longer you have had a Candida Overgrowth the more debilitating the symptoms can be. Don’t be discouraged; there is a fairly easy way to correct candida.
It is not difficult to get rid of yeast once you get it. The main point to address is getting your digestion in order and eliminating the causes of candida; it is essential to healing a yeast condition. In my experiences, a person can completely eliminate a yeast problem in four weeks or less if the digestion is brought under control and the dietary changes are established. The most important thing to do is to stop feeding the yeast by limiting your carbohydrates to 10-15 grams per meal. Eliminate all processed carbohydrates especially white flour and sugar, in all forms. It is also important to get a high-quality acidophilus [yogurt culture] supplement back into your system. Once you stop feeding the yeast and reintroduce the friendly bacteria the body will begin to repair itself.
Candida is an element naturally present in our intestinal flora. Some of the causes of candida overgrowth can be attributed to an improper diet, an impaired immune system, and/or use of medications, especially antibiotics or birth control pills. One course of antibiotics alone can cause this imbalance by killing off the less virulent friendly bacteria that helps with digestion and elimination. When the friendly bacteria diminishes the candida multiplies exponentially. Lack of these beneficial bacteria (probiotics) is one of the main causes of candida overgrowth.
When candida is in the “overgrowth” state it reacts much like a parasite in that it lives off the sugar you eat and it spills it’s toxins into your system causing you to feel miserable. Since parasites can manipulate their hosts to benefit themselves it isn’t uncommon for someone with a candida overgrowth to crave carbohydrates. Something to keep in mind is that candida is a form of yeast that feeds on sugar and any carbohydrate is converted to sugar by our body. To get your intestinal flora back into balance, follow my three-step plan: for the best candida cure.
What else?
Another very important supplement to include in your daily regimen would be a top quality yeast-free B-Complex or Multi vitamin. The majority of candida sufferers seem to be deficient in B-complex which is one of the reasons for the feeling of great tiredness and inability to handle stress. B-complex is also essential in helping us to get a good night’s sleep. So make sure to include this important supplement in your morning routine.
The other reason for feeling tired is that candida is a living single cell organism that spills its waste products into your body. This overloads the immune system and has a toxic effect on you as your body works overtime trying to rid itself of an overabundance of waste.
Candida thrives on starchy foods. The trick here is to STOP FEEDING THE YEAST! As you kill off the bad bacteria, you bring the body back into balance by introducing the good microorganisms in the form of a friendly bacteria supplement (acidophilus). Also, introduce healthy digestive enzymes by adding a shot of raw naturally fermented unpasteurized apple cider vinegar to your diet once or twice daily.

How Normal Bacteria in Our Intestines can Become a Parasite
Candida is a single cell organism in the yeast family. It serves an important function in our gut much like insulin does in our blood. Any sugar that is not eliminated by insulin in our blood moves into our intestines where the candida organisms clean up (eat) the remaining sugar. When there is a constant over abundance of sugar (much like the American diet) the candida population grows. All carbohydrates (except fiber) are converted to sugar in our body.
If you have done anything to kill off your “friendly” bacteria (probiotics) say for instance with a course of antibiotics, x-rays, birth control pills or even stress; then the candida grows out of balance and overtakes the less prolific “friendly” bacteria.
It is at this point that candida shifts from being a normal part of healthy intestinal flora to being, for all intents and purposes, a parasite. This is called, Candida Overgrowth or SIBO. It is considered parasitic in that it is living off the food that its host eats and then eliminates its waste into the host, causing the host to become toxic.
Candida also takes on one more characteristic of a parasite. It controls its host by causing the host to crave sugar or carbohydrates. In so doing it guarantees its own survival.
Lori’s Candida Recommendations
Step 1
1) Provide Support for Immune System
- *Take Endocrine Strengthener available from this website on the “Products” page.
- *Get plenty of rest (at least 7 hours per night-sleep in total darkness).
- *Take a high potency multi-vitamin and mineral – take extra vitamin A, C and E.
- *Take one tablespoon of flaxseed or coconut oil daily.
- *Vitamin D (minimum of 1,000 IU daily but you can take 5,000-10,0000).
Step 2
2) Flush the Digestive Tract and Balance Intestinal Flora.
- *Drink lots of water. This will help flush the system and reduce the discomfort you feel as the yeast dies off. Remember that sometimes you feel worse before you feel better.
- *Eat foods that add healthy bacteria (kefir, raw sauerkraut-the kind in bags, yogurt, miso soup, kimchi and naturally fermented apple cider vinegar).(Kefir is the best by far in my opinion)
- *Take a sugar free Metamucil type fiber supplement daily.
- *Very Important: If you don’t have at least one bowel movement daily; start your program with step one and two. Proceed to step three ONLY once you have achieved regular daily bowel movements.
Step 3
3) Stop feeding the yeast by following the Candida Control Diet: (For at least one Month)
- *Eliminate all sugars-Sugar is one of the key causes of candida [you may use Stevia In The Raw as a substitute]
- *Limit carbohydrates to 10-15 grams per meal
- *Eliminate white flour, white rice, and pasta.
- *Keep even whole grains to a minimum because your body turns carbs into sugar.
- *Limit dairy products because of lactose (milk sugar.) but eat yogurt 1-2 times weekly.
- *Eliminate all known or suspected food allergens.
- *Discontinue use of all antibiotics (another one of the chief causes of candida) unless it is an absolute medical necessity
- *Eat all the high quality lean protein that you want. Go easy on the processed meats.
- *I recommend The Protein Power Plan by doctors Michael and Mary Eades or South Beach Diet. If you choose South Beach Diet you must stay on Phase one for one month rather than the suggested two weeks.
- *Eliminate the use of antibiotics, steroids, immune suppressing drugs, and birth control pills since they are major causes of candida overgrowth.
- Note: Although it is suggested to limit dairy products, I think it is important to eat cultured dairy such as Kefir or yogurt because the acidophilus bacteria are very beneficial in bringing the intestinal flora back into balance. If I had to choose between yogurt and Kefir, I would choose kefir because it has 10 times more beneficial probiotics than yogurt. Reduced “friendly” bacteria is one of the causes of candida overgrowth. If you do not like yogurt or kefir, you may want to consider purchasing a probiotic as a supplement. That said, I still prefer together my probiotics from fermented foods.
ALSO: For very stubborn cases of candida overgrowth, you can utilize Baking Soda. The use of baking soda can treat a yeast infection or oral thrush. In combination with the Anti-Candida diet, there may be a much better chance of curing Candida with baking soda. For intestinal candida overgrowth, start off with 1/2 tsp baking soda in water to prevent the discomfort of sudden candida die-off IE Herxheimer reaction. Work up to 1 tsp in a glass of water.
Fibromyalgia – follow the above recommendations but add Fibro-Nervine to your program to help relieve nerve pain and support restful sleep.
